A friend used to go on about ebay all the time, so one day I decided to check it out for myself…and now I check it everyday! Whenever I want to buy anything I always have to check ebay first! There are always bargains on there and it so easy to use. I like the auctions and find it fun to bid. I have found that I am looking around the house to find things to sell, and amazingly, I don’t tend to have problems selling my items. I use paypal so I don’t have to worry about security. Sellers and buyers both have ratings (which go up according to feedback left, and feedback comments are left for everyone to read. When you buy or sell an item you leave feedback. If negative feedback is left the persons rating goes down (it starts at 100%) Feedback comes in handy when buying, the higher the feedback rating the more reliable the seller is likely to be. In the case if sellers it comes in handy as sometimes people bid and then dont pay - you can find out from feedback if this has happened before. It can be annoying when this happens as ebay charges for listing your item on ebay.
Overall though, the website is good, easy to use, fun and fairly addictive, especially if you like hunting for bargains,.!

I caught the eBay bug about a month ago, and still I foam at the mouth when I regularly check my buying and selling page.

It doesn’t help when virtually everything you sell, sells, and everything you want entices you to bid higher; there’s no escape!

Like most I was a bit shy of eBay as I was wary about being conned, worried about losing money (sellers fees) for things that didn’t sell etc. but when I saw how much of a frenzy a friend of mine was getting into I thought I’d give it ago - just once. But no one told me that eBay was virtual cocaine.

And if you’re lucky your parted money will see a bargain materialise before you (used or new), or you can make a probable (nee regular) trip to your PO who will know you’re an eBayer, get a jiffy and post away with polite little communication inbetween. If you’re wary of talking to strangers in most cases I’ve experienced no one really talks unless there’s a need to confirm something or make an arrangement. It is nice to swap emails and post with these temporary prey, er customers, er friends.

And then to calm down there’s the message boards…I can’t be bothered writing anymore, I have to check my eBay!

My personal experience with Ebay dates back to the last 18 months or so. I signed up on Ebay after thinking over it many times, because I wanted to give it a try.

I like reading books and some time I have up to 3 different books I am in the process of reading and I knew that it is possible to find cheap deals on Ebay.

I was lazy to sign up, but I must confess that it was pretty much fast, it did not take too long. I never thought about selling anything on Ebay.

After my registration was done I searched for few books my list. Most of them were available on Ebay and I placed a bid for each of them.

I also put a maximum bid of 2 Pounds. I need to pay also the postal charges which are nearly 2 pounds.

I won an auction for one book and I was surprized that all the other books sold for more than 2 pounds!

I asked one of my friends who at that time had a paypal account to send the money and I got the book delivered in few days.

After that I set up my own paypal account.

I have probably bought a total of 9 books (if I remember correctly) on Ebay. On 2 occasions I found that the book was not in the conditions described on the site, but in general things went well.

You definitely need to know the original to have an emotional investment in More American Graffiti, as the action is spread over four different New Year’s Eves in the sixties. Milner is drag racing, the Toad is dodging bullets in Vietnam, Debbie is a San Francisco hippie, and Steve and Laurie weather a domestic crisis. The cast is back, save for the AWOL Richard Dreyfuss; even Harrison Ford pops up for an amusing cameo. The busy rock soundtrack is there too, but the old magic is dissipated in labored comedy and obvious social comment. The most interesting thing about the film is director Bill Norton’s decision to shoot the segments in different styles, a bold move that pays off in the gritty, TV-news look of the Vietnam sequences. –Robert Horton
